A New Amateur World Record

ERIC FRASURE - Scottish Heavy Athletics

We knew he had potential but he was only 14 years old when Eric and his

dad, Scott Frasure, began throwing heavy implements in the pasture on

the south side of Neck Road. This pix was his first world record in the 56

lb weight at 49' 8".

Scott Frasure has reported that Eric has won the US Scottish Heavy

Athletics Amateur Championships at Pleasanton, CA. At Dayton, Ohio

Eric broke the Amateur Sheaf World Record with 38'. He won the East

Coast Championships and set a new Amateur World Record in the 28 lb

for distance with a 91' throw. Eric has also broken the North American

Amateur Record in the Hammer that Carl Braun set in 1994 with a 124+

throw. Eric Frasure went to Hopewell High School and is currently on a

track scholarship at East Carolina University. Scott and Eric thank the

CVSS for their support over the years.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - East Carolina junior Eric Frasure capped an award-winning season with a seventh-place national finish in the 35-pound weight throw event at the 2006 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships Saturday afternoon inside Walker Pavilion on the University of Arkansas campus.

Frasure longest effort, measured at 21.29 meters, fell 2.44 meters behind the national championship mark of 23.73 meters turned in by senior Spyridon Jullien of Virginia Tech.

After logging a throw of 20.64 meters in his first attempt and then fouling on his second try, the Charlotte native launched his best toss of the championships at 21.29, which also served as Frasure's second-longest effort of the season - trailing only his school-record distance of 21.62 set at the UNC Last Chance Meet on March 1. He followed up with throws of 20.74, 20.62 and 20.74 meters to close out the competition before earning NCAA Indoor Track & Field All-America honors for the first time in his career.
