2010 Stone Mountain Games

Barrett Graham succeeds John and Margaret Graham as the North Carolina state convener for the Clan Graham Society. His wife, Sharyne, assists him at the games.

Barrett Graham is new North Carolina state convener

With the recent “retirement” of John and Margaret Graham, Barrett Graham has taken on the responsibilities as convener for North Carolina and is in charge of the Loch Norman Highland Games (April) and the Scotland County Highland Games (October).

Barrett is a native North Carolinian who was born and raised in the mountains and the Piedmont of North Carolina. He is a full-time practicing attorney and also a firefighter, fire service instructor and fire/arson investigator. Barrett is a graduate of the Virginia Military Institute, earning a bachelor's degree in history. He also has a JD from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and has been in private law practice since 1976.

He was an officer in the United States Marine Corps serving in Vietnam and is active as an honor guard for the Scottish American MIlitary Society. Besides the Clan Graham, Barrett's other clan affiliations include McKay, McBean, McPherson and Gilchrist/Ogilvie.

He and his wife Sharyne have been long time members of the Clan Graham Society. Sharyne, a proud Virginian, holds a bachelor's degree in radiation physics from Elon University, is an inactive FSA Scot and has clan affiliations with Munro and Smith.

Barrett said, "We have been involved with Highland games since the late 1980s. She has worked as a pottery vendor and clothier and I spent six years on the Board of Directors at Loch Norman."

The Clan Graham Society are grateful to Barrett, Sharyne, John and Margaret for their volunteer spirit and Clan Graham pride!
